Overnight Prototypes

A newly created division of Solid Concepts provides rigid, white prototypes in less than 24 hours — literally the fastest prototypes on the planet.

Solid Concepts – July 23, 2008 – As a supplier of rapid prototyping, direct digital manufacturing, tooling, and injection molding services, Solid Concepts has expanded its outsourcing services to meet the growing needs of design engineers in a broad spectrum of industries including aerospace, automotive, medical, electronics assembly, and more.

The focus of the expansion is a service and its corresponding website, www.ZoomRP.com, which is quick and easy to use. The site provides a simple three-step process for designers to acquire access to prototypes faster than anywhere else in the business. It’s as simple as uploading a design in an STL file, selecting a shipping option, and placing the order.

If an order is placed by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, the finished part can be built and shipped for morning delivery the following day, using FedEx Priority Shipping. This is only the beginning for the new division. The company expects to expand from the standard rigid white material into whole other spectrums of fast, available prototypes, using a variety of materials and colors — all to come in following months.

Using high-speed, high-quality PolyJet technology, the company’s mission is to provide prototypes quickly and reliably. The PolyJet system builds parts in 16 micron layers in exceptional detail and edge visualization, and is suitable for high-quality prototypes as well as master patterns.

PolyJet prototypes are best suited for applications where accuracy, detail, and surface finish are critical, and where the part fits within a 5” x 5” x 5” (127mm x 127mm x 127mm) build volume. (The maximum PolyJet build volume is 19.3” x 15.4” x 7.9” (490mm x 390mm x 200mm).

  • SolidView
SolidView® software allows you to view, rotate, measure and communicate design intent with non-CAD users—starting with our free 3D CAD viewer—SolidView/Lite.
  • Prototypes
PolyJet™ & SLA® provide accurate concept models and master patterns in record time. Complete in-house finishing capability for production-like prototypes.
  • SLS & DMLS
SLS® produces rugged Nylon 11 and Nylon 12 prototype and production parts. DMLS utilizes metal and alloy materials to create strong metal parts without tooling.
  • FDM
FDM (fused deposition modeling) produces both prototype and production parts from ABS plastic, polycarbonate, and Ultem materials.
  • CNC
CNC prototypes, parts and master patterns are ideal in applications where the material property or size requirements make other prototyping techniques unsuitable.
  • Cast Urethane
Cast Urethane (a proprietary advanced casting technology and advanced formula polymers) produce strong pre-production and short-run production components.
  • Composites
Composites (fiber reinforced plastic) technology produces large, rigid, accurate panels with excellent strength-to-weight ratio and surface finish.
  • Tooling
Tooling from Solid Concepts provides quick-turn tooling options for Chinese tooling & production, export tooling from China, and domestic tooling, all with domestic project management.
  • Molding
Molding from Solid Concepts brings you the best of both worlds by providing Chinese pricing and lead times along with Solid Concepts quality and domestic project management.
