NEXT GENERATION URETHANE MATERIAL FOR FIRE RETARDANT APPLICATIONS OFFERED BY SOLID CONCEPTS INC

VALENCIA, CA – Solid Concepts Inc. has introduced a new cast urethane material offering FAR 25.853 Fire Retardant Certification and excellent mechanical properties to its’ QuantumCast cast urethanes materials offering. AFP-3100FR is a new polymer utilized with Solid Concepts’ QuantumCast™ process, where Advanced Formula Polymers (AFP) are cast in a proprietary rapid tooling technology that offers mechanical properties closely resembling engineered plastics. The resulting castings are void-free, durable, color-matched pieces produced quickly without hard tooling. AFP-3100FR meets FAR 25.853 Fire Retardant Certification requirements and is amongst the toughest material in its class with a 2.10 ft-lb/in Izod Impact Strength (method A, notched) rating. This material is rigid, 424,000 psi flexural modulus (ASTM D790), and heat resistant with a heat deflection temperature of 179° F at 66 psi (ASTM D648). Additionally, Solid Concepts offers Micro-welded inserts - the strongest inserts available in the industry and a variety of AFP’s with up four times the impact strength of older urethanes.
