SOLID CONCEPTS JOINS EDS UNIGRAPHICS ALLIANCE PROGRAM

Valencia, California, March 23, 1997 - Solid Concepts and EDS Unigraphics (St. Louis, Missouri) announced today that Solid Concepts has joined the EDS Unigraphics Alliance Program. The EDS Unigraphics Alliance Program is designed to make leading-edge software applications available to EDS Unigraphics users. Alliance Program applications enable EDS Unigraphics customers to capitalize on their existing Unigraphics data by making it available throughout the product development process. Solid Concepts develops and markets SolidView software, which allows users to view, measure, and communicate 3D solid designs on a typical Windows PC.

"Solid Concepts takes 3D viewing and markup to the next level with SolidView", said Karin Ring, EDS Unigraphics product marketing manager. "Using industry standard STL, VRML, and IGES files, users can measure, annotate and communicate complex designs and assemblies in an easy-to-use Windows environment."

"Having SolidView in the EDS Unigraphics Alliance Program will make it much easier for EDS Unigraphics customers to make their 3D designs available to everyone involved in the product development process", said Joe Allison, president of Solid Concepts. "In today's environment, everyone, including purchasing managers, marketing, customers, and especially development partners, can benefit from having access to 3D design information. With Unigraphics and SolidView, it now easier than ever to accomplish that."

SolidView allows operators to apply 3D dimensions, to dynamically display complex cross sections, to print images, and to cut and paste with other Windows applications. SolidView provides real-time rendering, including shading, smooth shading, faces of solid and wire-frame display of model data output from Unigraphics in STL (stereolithography), VRML, and optionally IGES formats. Once in SolidView, designs may be "published" with an embedded viewer to enable others to view the models without purchasing the SolidView software. This no-cost player makes it easy for Unigraphics users to communicate designs to organizations that do not have Unigraphics or SolidView software.

EDS Unigraphics improves its customers' product development environment, converting information into easily shared digitally based knowledge. Offerings include Unigraphics for design-through-manufacture applications and IMAN for product information management.
