Fortune 500 companies, research pioneers and top rated medical companies continually turn to Solid Concepts for their rapid product development from prototyping to production. With 6 U.S. facilities and 12 manufacturing technologies, Solid Concepts has the capacity, expertise and process controls to meet all your stringent medical production needs.
Customer required 13 inch pounds torque test on inserts for their product. All current techniques available to post process inserts (heat sink, glue, etc.) pulled out at 10-12 inch pounds.
Developed proprietary method of Micro-welding the inserts into parts. As a result the client was able to obtain 36+ inch pounds of torque in repeated testing. Micro-welded inserts are now a standard Solid Concepts product offering.
Customer required over 137 inserts in a product that was 13”x 4.5”x 6” with inserts pulling in 6 separate directions on the inside and outside of an enclosure.
Solid Concepts’ precision QuantumCast process employed CNC produced fixtures to accurately place Micro-welded inserts so the design could enter production without any redesign, assuring the client was first to market.
Medical Instrument enclosure broke repeatedly during assembly process. The product continually broke in a transitional area void of structural ribbing and supports due to design constraints.
Composite technologies were employed in target location to create a structural reinforcement in the problem area.
Since 1991, Solid Concepts has been a technology leader in the rapid manufacturing industry specializing in systems for production of medical components and equipment. While numerous advanced technologies have played a vital role in the company’s success, Solid Concepts’ proven quality has earned them a spot among the top medical manufacturers in the industry.
Solid Concepts is committed to excellent customer satisfaction, consistently meeting or exceeding our customer’s requirements, and continually improving the effectiveness of our Quality Systems. We hold both AS 9100 (Austin TX, Valencia CA) and ISO 9001 (Poway CA) certifications and have a dedicated quality department.

Prototypes and Production Medical Devices can be created quickly using SLS, DMLS, QuantumCast Cast Urethane and Composite technologies. Tooling, Molding and Finished Products services enable full production and packaging of final products. Medical Carts
Specializing in first-to-market production of new medical carts. Solid Concepts utilizes multiple proven technologies including QuantumCast Cast Urethane, CompositeCast and production composite technologies such as RTM and FRP (fiberglass layup). Scientific Instrumentation
We provide prototype and production manufacturing of enclosures for scientific instruments that meet & exceed our customers’ requirements and expectations. |
Tables & Panels
FRP hand lay-up technology (fiberglass lay-up) produces rigid, lightweight panels with high strength-to-weight ratios. RTM and QuantumCast are ideal for short-runs of strong and stable panels. All three technologies are ideal for cosmetic covers, panels and tables in excess of 10’ in length; size is never a limiting factor. Anatomical Models
PolyJet, SLA, SLS and CNC can quickly replicate anatomical features that can be used as master patterns for prosthetics and as surgical models for medical & dental education. Surgical Drill & Saw Guides
Custom saw and drill guides created with FDM help ensure precise surgical locating on test patients. FDM has materials that meet ISO 10993-1 & USP Class VI certifications. Flexible Shore-A Cast Urethane Materials
Custom silicone parts used in the production of gaskets, seals and bumpers. Silicone can also be used in keypads and diaphragms with conductive ink. |
