Functional Models |

Functional models are designed to simulate the properties of the final product in as many ways
as possible. This can include electrical properties such as EMI resistance as well as physical
properties such as weight, heat deflection and strength. Functional models are used to verify the
performance of the design in various operating environments. Functional models enable engineers
to evaluate designs early in the development process, while it is still cost-effective to incorporate
changes.
Solid Concepts produces Functional models using PolyJet, Stereolithography (SLA) , SLS, CNC, and Cast Urethane
technologies, depending on the specific requirements. Functional models can be produced in as
little as 1 or 2 working days.
Solid Concepts' customers use Functional models to:
- Verify the performance of complex designs and assemblies
- Measure performance characteristics
- Conduct life-cycle tests
- Perform electromagnetic interference and other regulatory agency tests
