Senior Project Engineer - Medical
Solid Concepts, a world leader in Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing, is searching for a Senior Project Engineer to manage complex projects for our medical device & equipment manufacturers and other Fortune 500 customers. Customer projects relate to prototype development and low volume manufacturing of plastic & metal components. This position is in our Valencia, California facility. Centrally located between the coast, mountains, desert, and downtown Los Angeles, our brand new 53,000 sq. ft. facility offers the best of all worlds.
The applicant must have extensive experience with rapid prototyping, medical inspection (FDA) and quality (regulatory) requirements, and excellent personal/communications skills. Also, you must be able to handle multiple projects that are scheduled for rapid turnaround times.
The ideal candidate will also have:
- 5-10 years exposure to medical manufacturing, inspection and quality requirements
- Experience with plastic part manufacturing (injection molding, vacuum forming, roto molding, & extrusions) to FDA requirements
- Knowledge of plastic part design and material properties
- Must be able to read 2D Drawings and understand GD&T
- Experience with inspection methods and fixtures
- Experience with 3D CAD as well as 3D Solid Models
- History of working with Customers and Sales Force with the ability to identify needs to provide creative technical solutions
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
- Excellent organizational skills, and attention to details
- Ability to travel with Sales Force for technical/sales support
- Computer Skills to include: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CAD Software
- BSME or equivalent
Job duties will include:
- Consulting with customers on all aspects of product development
- Recommending development and manufacturing methods
- Putting together pricing and quotes for in-house and subcontracted products
- Contract review and negotiations
- Documenting customer quality requirements
- Coordinating all manufacturing activities to meet customer requirements

Industrial Paint Technician
This is an opportunity to grow with a world leader in the rapid prototyping industry, in a new facility, utilizing the latest technology and equipment.
Job duties will include:
- Prepares plastic prototype parts of various size and geometry for use as master models by sanding and filling surface imperfections then priming and cleaning in preparation for application of top coats consisting of a range of textures, smooth or hi-gloss finishes.
- Selecting, mixing and maintaining all paints used for production.
- Performs cleaning and maintenance of departmental equipment as required.
Requirements:
- Candidates must possess skills and previous experience in the painting field.
- Model making background is desirable.
- Experience in automotive or industrial painting will be considered.
- Organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail while producing quality parts in a timely manner are critical.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime is required.
- Ability to maintain a good attendance record is mandatory.
- Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Prototyping Technician
A Rapid Prototyping Technician prepares build files and paperwork to build parts on SLA, SLS, and MJM equipment. Following instructions on Work Orders the technician will prepare build lots to run the specified process, product, and materials.
Job duties will include:
- Review CAD files for manufacturability
- Manipulate CAD files for manufacture\
- Generate build and part manufacturing checklists to Solid Concepts' ISO 9001:2000 standards
- Perform low-level maintenance on all SLA machines
- Daily cleanup
- Daily equipment checks
- Maintain service records and reports
- Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the department manager.
The ideal candidate will have a 2-year technical degree or 4 years related experience. Computer skills, attention to detail, organized, with critical thinking skills a must. Knowledge of 3D CAD and 3D Systems preparation software is a plus. The candidate must be available to work on all shifts as well as work overtime and some weekends.

Rapid Prototyping Equipment Technician
Join the fast paced Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing (RP&M) industry being trained and working for the industry leader – Solid Concepts Inc. This is a full-time, entry-level position, working nights, and/or weekends. Solid Concepts will train the right candidate in operation of their various RP&M equipment. Duties
- Set up and start machines for builds
- Monitor machines during build process, remove finished builds from machines, and perform preliminary part inspection
- Document/Update data base, Scheduling board, and print check lists
- Document incoming raw materials and place into storage
- Keep machine area and machines clean.
- Perform SLS powder mixing, system maintenance, and documentation
- Perform SLS tensile bar testing
- Perform SLA resin recycling, resin vat changes, and polyjet maintenance
- Maintain service records and reports. Other duties may also be assigned.
Requirements:
- Computer skills, attention to detail, organized, with critical-thinking skills.
- Logic and math skills a plus.
- The candidate must be available to work a night or weekend shift
- A candidate must have reliable transportation.
- Position is entry level and training is available.
- Pay is based on experience and skill, with potential for advancement

- Experience working with hands (fine motor skills).
