SOLID CONCEPTS INTRODUCES SOLIDVIEW SOFTWARE

SolidView software eliminates the need for an expensive workstation and 3D CAD program to view, measure, and manipulate 3D solid designs. With SolidView anyone running Windows can work with solid designs in industry standard STL file format.

March 4, 1995, Valencia, CA -- . Solid Concepts today introduces SolidView, the first high performance software that allows anyone running Windows to manipulate 3D solid designs. Before the introduction of SolidView, an expensive workstation and costly CAD software were required to work with solid designs. Now anyone running Windows can view, measure, and edit solid designs from virtually any CAD program.

SolidView opens up new lines of communication, both within a company and with its vendors. With SolidView marketing can use solid designs from engineering for presentations or reviews. Management running SolidView can easily monitor progress on their Windows-based systems. Consultants running SolidView can now easily be included in the design loop. Potentially confusing or misleading prints of the solid design are not required.

Vendors no longer have to run the same CAD system as your company. With SolidView they can see all of the details of the design, extract dimensions, and even look inside the design on their Windows-based system. Vendors can now be brought into the early stages of the design cycle with SolidView, leading to a final design that is less costly to produce.

SolidView is also an ideal way to verify a design before committing to rapid prototyping. SolidView works with the actual STL file that is used in the rapid prototyping process, allowing verification of the STL file directly for the best rapid prototyping results.

SolidView works by translating industry standard STL files (created by virtually any workstation 3D CAD software) to a viewable solid. This solid can be viewed in a number of shaded or wireframe rendered modes. Users can rotate, scale, and position the solid so that any view is available, and extract dimensions directly from the solid.

SolidView runs on any 486 or Pentium-based Windows system. It is a full 32-bit application, making it suitable for Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups 3.11, Windows NT, or Windows 95. SolidView’s suggested single-user price is $1995, with multi-user discounts available.

SolidView is a product of Solid Concepts Inc., a leader in the field of rapid prototyping service and software. Solid Concepts is the author of Bridgeworks, the industry standard automatic support generator for rapid prototyping.
